THE WELLER WING SHUTTER
Rochester Optical Company, Rochester, New
York 1896 - 1902
Touted by Rochester
Optical as one of the best shutters in the market for either the amateur or
professional photographer, the Weller
Wing Shutter was beautifully
designed, simple in construction and capable of time and instantaneous
work. It was intended to mount on the
front of a lens barrel od lens shade. The example
shown here, missing its mounting collar, measures 6-3/8" wide by 6-3/16"
in height including the pneumatic nipple.
The Weller is presumed to have been manufactured by
Rochester Optical Company, having been carried almost exclusively by them.
Introduced in 1896, the Weller would continue to be
offered by Rochester Optical Company in their catalogues through 1902.
